What is WRAPS?

Watershed Restoration & Protection Strategy
Involves Everyone

Kansas is unique in the fact that as the citizens of the state we are good at getting things done on our own terms.  We work well as communities and organizations to accomplish goals for the betterment of everyone.  Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy is a planning and management framework that engages stakeholders in a process to:  1.  Identify watershed stakeholders:  i.e. cities, landowners, businesses, irrigation districts, conservation districts, basically everyone.  2.  Determine individual concerns within the watershed and consult with water resource experts from the KDHE, EPA, CRCS, and more to seek out problem areas within the watershed.  3.  Goals will be created based on information from the public and knowledge of experts within the field of water quality and watershed restoration.  Why be involved?  Water is the key to our future.  It is essential to life and is our responsibility to take care of this natural resource and preserve it for future generations.

Watershed Restoration And Protection Strategy Development Phase Final Report

Serving the Waconda and Cedar Bluff Reservoir Watersheds
Watershed:  the land area that catches rain or snow and drains to specific
marshes, streams, rivers and lakes or to ground water.
Stakeholder:  any individual or organization that is impacted positively or
          negatively by an action.
Development:  stakeholder recruitment, determine interests, document
stakeholder decisions. This is where YOU can get involved.  Watershed
restoration should be a concern to everyone.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has provided financial assistance to the project through EPA Section 319 Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Grant #2006-0057 (Waconda Reservoir) and #2006-0056 (Cedar Bluff Reservoir)
